Rooftop Central Package Units

Air conditioning solutions for large areas, with carefully planned air distribution that suits your project's needs.

Overview

What We Deliver: Rooftop Central Package Units

These systems include packaged units, which combine all cooling components in a single unit, and split units, which consist of an outdoor unit and an indoor unit. Conditioned air is distributed through a ductwork network.

At Nefal, we select the right configuration based on the loads, the spaces and the operating requirements, and deliver the work in an integrated way, from study and design through supply, installation, testing and commissioning.

Scope of Work:

  • Load study, unit selection and preparation of working drawings.
  • Supply and installation of packaged or split units, including their bases and vibration isolators.
  • Installation of supply and return ductwork, insulation and air outlets.
  • Installation, insulation and testing of refrigerant piping for split units.
  • Preparation of fresh air intake in line with design requirements.
  • Installation of electrical connections, controls and condensate drainage.
  • Operational testing, airflow measurement and balancing of air distribution.

Suitable Projects:

Exhibition halls Restaurants Halls and function rooms Mosques Warehouses Commercial buildings and public facilities Some villa and palace applications

System suitability is determined by the loads, the type of use, and the space available for the units and ductwork routes.

System Features

  • Large-area coverage: multiple capacities and options to suit different loads.
  • Flexible configuration: packaged or split units, chosen based on the spaces and the project requirements.
  • Well-planned air distribution: ductwork and outlets designed to suit the shape and use of the spaces.
  • Fresh air option: can be added in line with ventilation needs and the system's provisions.
  • Noise and vibration control: their transmission is limited through location selection, insulation and suitable treatments.
  • Easy maintenance access: when suitable locations and service areas are allocated for the units.

How We Ensure Quality

  • Careful selection: unit capacities, airflow and available pressure are sized to suit the loads and the ductwork network.
  • Coordination before execution: review of unit locations, bases, openings and service routes, and verification of structural and electrical requirements.
  • Installation to specification: ductwork, insulation, vibration treatments and refrigerant piping for split units, installed in line with the manufacturer's requirements.
  • Testing and adjustment: appropriate tests for each system, verification of controls and condensate drainage, and measurement and balancing of airflow across the outlets.

What We Need to Start

  • Architectural drawings, space uses and heights.
  • Project location, construction stage and operating hours.
  • Details of false ceilings, and the routes and openings available for ductwork.
  • Proposed unit locations, roof plans and related structural information.
  • Electrical supply, insulation and glazing data, if available.

We will review the available information with you and identify what is needed to complete the study.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between packaged and split units?

A packaged unit combines all cooling components in a single unit, usually installed outside the building. A split system consists of an outdoor unit and an indoor unit connected by refrigerant piping. The choice depends on the available space, service routes, and operating and maintenance requirements.

What is the difference between packaged units and VRF systems?

A packaged unit usually serves a large area or a group of spaces through a ductwork network, while a VRF system connects several indoor units, each with independent control. The more suitable option depends on zoning, operating hours, control requirements and the project budget.

Can one unit air-condition more than one room?

Yes, taking into account how the rooms are used and when they are occupied. In systems with unified control, the spaces share the same operation. Independent control requires proper design and equipment to divide the zones.

Does the system provide fresh air from outside?

A calculated amount of outside air can be introduced when the system is equipped for it, in line with ventilation requirements. Having central air conditioning does not mean fresh air is automatically provided.

Are these systems available with inverter technology?

Yes, variable-speed compressor options are available depending on the unit type, capacity and manufacturer. The most suitable option is determined during the project study.

What are the rough-in requirements?

Suitable locations for the units, routes for ductwork, sufficient height for false ceilings, an appropriate electrical supply, and routes for refrigerant piping for split units. Structural openings are best coordinated before concrete is poured, and any later change requires structural review and approval.

How are the costs and electricity consumption determined?

The cost depends on the type, number and capacity of the units, plus ductwork, insulation, piping, controls and installation works. Electricity consumption is affected by equipment efficiency, loads, insulation and operating hours, and the options are compared based on the needs of the project.
